M.D., Ph.D (Habilitation, 2010). Clinical Training in Paediatrics and Tropical Medicine. 1997 – 1999 medical anthropoogical fieldwork in Ecuador. Since 2003: Lecturer for Medical History, Anthropoogy and Ethics at the Institute of the History of Medicine, University of Giessen, Germany. Since 2011: coordination of the Global Health Programme at the University of Giessen Medical School.

Medical Pluralism and ‘intercultural’ approaches in health; migration and health; ‘cultural competence training’; history and current applications of ethnography in medicine and health; hospital ethnography
