Christine B\u00f6hmig was trained as a general nurse at the Schwesternschule des Universtit\u00e4tsklinikum Heidelberg, Germany, from 1989 to 1992. She worked as a nurse at the Maternal and Child Care Unit in Cape Coast, Ghana, and at the hematology unit at the academic hospital in Heidelberg, Germany. From 1992 onwards, she studied cultural anthropology (major), sociology and political sciences (minor) at the University of Heidelberg and received her MA degree in 1997. Her research interests are in hospital ethnography, religion and health, African belief systems and qualitative methodologies. In 2010, she received her PhD from University of Amsterdam for her research entitled \u2018Ghanaian nurses at a cross-road, managing expectations in a medical ward\u2019. Between 1999 and 2012, she worked as a tutor at University College Utrecht, the Netherlands and she also taught courses in cultural anthropology, medical anthropology and qualitative research methods. Since 2013, she is based in Karlsruhe, Germany, working in intercultural consulting and training and transcultural nursing.
