Kristina Tiedje is a Research-Teaching Professor (Enseignant-Chercheur Titulaire) of Anthropology in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the Universit\u00e9 Lumi\u00e8re Lyon 2 in France. Her research is in medical and environmental anthropology. She was trained at the Universit\u00e9 Lumi\u00e8re Lyon 2 for her undergraduate studies in sociology and ethnology and for her Master\u2019s in ethnology (1998). <\/span><\/p>\n

She was trained at the University of Oregon for her PhD (2004) in anthropology with a specialization in cultural anthropology. She also did a FYSSEN postdoctoral fellowship (2004-2005) at the Laboratoire d\u2019Anthropologie Sociale (Paris, France) and a Research Fellowship (2008-2009) in Bioethics Research at the Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN USA). She joined the faculty at Lyon 2 in 2005 and received tenure in 2006. While on leave from Lyon 2, she has been a Visiting Scholar in Anthropology at the University of Minnesota and an affiliated research with the Mayo Clinic. <\/span><\/p>\n

She currently conducts research in the field of medical anthropology with immigrant and refugees and other vulnerable populations in the United States. She is working on projects related to migrant suffering and resilience, alternative models of healthcare, and diet and physical activity among immigrants. Since 2008, she has been a Co-Investigator on several NIH funded research projects on doctor patient communication, shared decision-making, and burden of treatment. In addition, she keeps in touch with her earlier field in the Huasteca region in Mexico where she has conducted long-term fieldwork and continues to work with Nahuas and Teenek people on issues pertaining to religion and nature, healing and conservation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Moreover, she serves on the editorial board of Curare. Journal for Medical Anthropology and of the Journal for the Study of Religion, Nature and Culture (JSRNC). She serves as secretary on the board of the International Society for the Study of Religion, Nature, and Culture and is a member of the Advisory Board.<\/span><\/p>\n

She has published and given presentations in four languages and is currently working on a book manuscript on migrant suffering and on several article manuscripts in medical and environmental anthropology, including a special issue on eco-spiritualities and western epistemologies for JSRNC.<\/span><\/p>\n
